Everyone talks about the AI Act's deadlines, but I keep wondering about the boring part: enforcement. Each member state is supposed to stand up market surveillance authorities, and most seem understaffed or still hiring. If nobody has the technical capacity to inspect a model or audit training data, transparency obligations become paperwork nobody reads.
Has anyone here dealt with a national authority yet? I'm curious whether we'll see real investigations in the next year, or a slow build where companies self-certify and hope for the best. Also wondering how smaller developers are supposed to afford compliance without legal teams.
