Claude learns the creative craft
On April 28, 2026, Anthropic announced the expansion of its ecosystem with a set of connectors focused on creative professions. Under the banner Claude for Creative Work, it unveiled integrations with eight key partners: Autodesk, Adobe, Blender, Ableton, Splice, SketchUp, Affinity by Canva, and Resolume. The goal is simple — to allow artists, designers, and engineers to use Claude as an intelligent assistant directly in their favorite programs, rather than as a standalone chatbot.
“Claude cannot replace taste or imagination, but it can open up new ways of working — faster and more ambitious ideas, a broader skill set, and the ability to handle larger projects,” the company stated in its official announcement. The key point is that AI handles repetitive tasks and manual routines that keep creatives away from actual creative work.
How Claude works in Autodesk Fusion
The most striking novelty for the technical community is the connector for Autodesk Fusion, a popular CAD/CAM software for 3D modeling, simulation, and manufacturing. Thanks to it, users with an active Fusion subscription can create and modify 3D models through a conversation with Claude.
It works by the user describing the desired object in natural language — for example: “Create a mobile phone holder with a 60-degree angle, hole diameter 8 mm, and wall thickness 2 mm.” Claude translates these instructions into direct modeling actions in the Fusion environment. The system thus connects the concept with a manufacturable output without the need for manual clicking through dozens of tools.
Technically, the integration relies on the MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard that Anthropic developed for connecting AI models with external tools. Thanks to this, Claude can access Fusion API functions, read the model state, modify geometry, and generate scripts for automating complex tasks.
Not just Fusion: the full suite of creative tools
Although Fusion attracts attention from technical professionals, the other integrations are equally noteworthy. Blender received an official MCP connector that allows analyzing entire scenes, tuning scripts, and automating batch object modifications. Anthropic even joined the Blender Development Fund as a patron to support further development of the Python API.
Among the other partners we find:
- Adobe — access to 50+ tools within Creative Cloud including Photoshop and Premiere
- Ableton — queries to official documentation for Live and Push
- SketchUp — creating 3D spatial concepts or furniture from text descriptions
- Splice — searching for royalty-free samples directly from Claude
- Affinity by Canva — batch image edits, layer renaming, file export
Comparison with competition: where does Claude stand?
AI integration into creative tools is not a new concept. Autodesk has been developing its own AI features directly in Fusion for several years — for example, generative design or automatic toolpath generation for CNC machining. Adobe integrated Firefly into Photoshop and Illustrator. OpenAI offers GPT-4o with visual understanding, but so far without such deep integration into professional CAD environments.
The difference lies in the approach: while Autodesk AI works mostly inside its own ecosystem, Claude for Creative Work functions as a layer across multiple applications. Users can utilize Claude as a “bridge” between tools — converting formats, restructuring data, and synchronizing assets between design, 3D, and audio software without manual transfer.
From the perspective of language models, Claude belongs among the top in long contexts and factual accuracy. For technical tasks such as generating parameters, scripting, or explaining CAD software functions, it has an advantage over more general models thanks to specialized connectors.
Practical impact for Czech companies and users
For Czech manufacturers, designers, and hardware developers, the new integration brings several specific benefits. Lowering the entry barrier for new Fusion users is crucial — instead of weeks of learning the interface, one can start modeling using natural language. Smaller companies that cannot afford to hire specialists for every CAD module thus gain a tool for faster prototyping.
Another benefit is automation of repetitive tasks. Claude can handle batch processing of parts, generating project templates, or applying procedural changes across an entire assembly. This saves hours of manual work, especially during modifications where one parameter needs to be changed on dozens of components.
Is the integration available in the Czech Republic? Yes. Autodesk Fusion is globally available software and the Claude connector for Fusion is accessible to all users with an active subscription. Claude itself works in Czech, although for technical CAD tasks it is currently optimized more for English. Czech companies should expect that for precise technical specifications it will initially be better to use English commands.
Pricing and availability
To use the integration, two conditions must be met. The first is an Autodesk Fusion subscription. Currently, an annual license for individuals costs approximately 545 USD (approx. 12,500 CZK) per year, with a free version available for personal non-commercial use with certain limitations. Companies mostly use flexible licensing through Autodesk Flex or team subscriptions.
The second condition is access to Claude. The basic version is available for free with a limited number of messages; for intensive professional use, the Claude Pro subscription for 18 USD per month (approx. 410 CZK) or the team plan Claude Team for 25 USD per user per month (approx. 570 CZK) is recommended. For large organizations, there is an Enterprise plan with extended security features.
Importantly, the connector for Fusion itself is part of the ecosystem and does not require any additional fees beyond the standard subscription.
When AI won't replace the designer
In its announcement, Anthropic explicitly emphasizes that Claude is not meant to replace creatives, but rather to expand their possibilities. The user must still define the intent, evaluate aesthetics, and verify technical feasibility. AI excels at routine tasks, generating variations, and explaining functions — but the final decision remains in human hands.
This approach is in line with the industry trend: AI is becoming a copilot, not a replacement. For Czech developers and designers, this means an opportunity to speed up processes without losing control over the output.

Do I need programming knowledge to use Claude in Autodesk Fusion?
No. The main advantage of the connector is that control happens through natural language. You do not need to know how to program or understand the Fusion API. However, for advanced automation, basic scripting knowledge can be useful.
Does Claude work with the free version of Autodesk Fusion?
The connector is officially intended for users with an active Fusion subscription. The free personal version of Fusion has functional limitations that may affect the availability of some advanced features required for full integration with Claude.
What about intellectual property protection when using AI in CAD?
Ownership of the models remains with the user. Anthropic states that conversation data is not used to train models unless the user explicitly consents. Nevertheless, companies should assess their internal security policy and consider using the Enterprise plan with extended data protection.
