Anthropic Introduces Claude Fable 5: New Mythos Model Class Changes the Game in AI Reasoning

Anthropic raises the bar for artificial intelligence another level. With the arrival of the Claude Fable 5 model and the new Mythos-class category, the company is moving away from simply increasing parameters and focusing on advanced reasoning and intelligent safety architecture. This model is not just another step in evolution; it is a new standard for complex agentic tasks.

The world of large language models (LLMs) has just shifted again. Anthropic, the company known for its emphasis on safety and ethics, has officially launched Claude Fable 5. However, this is not merely an update to the existing lineup. Fable 5 represents the first publicly accessible model from an entirely new category that Anthropic calls Mythos-class. This new tier aims to surpass the previous flagship, the Opus class, and offer capabilities approaching deep logical reasoning.

A New Hierarchical System: From Haiku to Mythos

Until now, we were accustomed to a clearly defined structure of Anthropic's models: Haiku for fast and inexpensive tasks, Sonnet as the versatile workhorse, and Opus for the most demanding projects. With the introduction of the Mythos class, however, the hierarchy changes. Claude Fable 5 now sits above Opus as the new "frontier" model for the most complex cognitive challenges.

Interestingly, Anthropic distributes this model in two variants. While Claude Mythos 5 is the full, unfiltered version available only to selected partners within the Project Glasswing program (for protecting critical infrastructure), the public Claude Fable 5 includes a sophisticated layer of safety classifiers. This means the model is extremely powerful, yet at the same time equipped with mechanisms that prevent misuse for illegal activities.

Unique Architecture: Intelligent Query Routing

What sets Fable 5 apart from competitors like GPT-5.5 or Gemini 3.1 Pro is not just raw performance, but the way the model handles risks. Anthropic implemented a system that, based on analysis of the query, decides whether it is safe or whether it could violate safety protocols in areas such as cybersecurity or biology.

If the system detects a potentially risky topic, the Fable 5 model does not address the question directly, but instead uses an internal mechanism to reroute it to a weaker but safer model. This approach makes it possible to preserve maximum intelligence for legitimate users while minimizing the risk of generating harmful content. It is a sophisticated way of balancing performance and safety, which is especially crucial for companies in regulated environments.

Benchmarks: How Does It Compare to the Competition?

First independent tests from Artificial Analysis suggest that Fable 5 dominates in the areas of agentic coding and complex logical reasoning. Here is an overview of the current comparison based on available data:

Benchmark / Model Claude Fable 5 GPT-5.5 (OpenAI) Gemini 3.1 Pro (Google)
Reasoning (Logic) Extremely High Very High High
Coding (Agentic) Top-tier High Moderately High
Safety Filter Dynamic/Adaptive Static/Rigid Contextual

Although the results are very promising, experts caution that more independent replications of the tests are needed for full validation. Nevertheless, the leap in agentic coding capabilities (the AI's ability to independently plan and execute steps in a programming environment) is already apparent from the first implementations.

Practical Impact: What Does This Mean for You?

For both the average user and businesses, this innovation manifests in several ways:

  • For developers and companies: Fable 5 is ideal for automating complex processes where the AI not only needs to respond but also act (e.g. log analysis, writing complex software modules). Thanks to the API, the model is immediately available for integration into corporate systems.
  • For the Czech market: Anthropic models are known for their excellent support of the Czech language. Claude Fable 5 maintains a high level of linguistic nuance, which is crucial for content creation or analysis of Czech legal and business documents.
  • For security experts: The new query routing system allows companies to use cutting-edge AI with less risk of the model "escaping" control in sensitive areas.

Pricing and Availability

Claude Fable 5 is available through paid Claude Pro plans and also via the API for enterprise clients.

  • Claude Pro: Standard subscription costs approximately 20 USD per month (about 470 CZK). This subscription gives you access to the latest models through the web interface.
  • API: Payment is based on actual usage (consumption-based), which is ideal for developers who want to scale their applications as needed.

In the Czech Republic and across the EU, the model is fully available through both the web interface and API. It is worth noting, however, that its implementation must comply with the EU AI Act, which Anthropic actively pursues thanks to its "safety-first" architecture.

Is Claude Fable 5 available in Czech?

Yes, the model has excellent Czech language processing capabilities. Although primary development is focused on English, the linguistic capabilities of the Claude family are among the best on the market and handle Czech grammar and context very naturally.

What is the difference between Claude Fable 5 and the older Opus model?

Fable 5 belongs to the new Mythos class, which is designed for a higher level of logical reasoning and complex agentic tasks. While Opus was the flagship for general work, Fable 5 is optimized for situations where the model needs to solve multi-level problems and independently plan steps.
